Post/Rock is a genre of music. The artists/bands/persons that occupy this genre play in the spirit of those who directly influenced the rock band Nirvana or play music that would be in consonance with the ethos of Nirvana’s frontman, Kurt Cobain.
Nirvana was/is the apex of rock. After the death of Kurt Cobain, the world of rock and roll was inverted. What was “rock” is now post/rock. What was a “musician” is now a post/musician.
Isn’t there already a genre of music called Post-Rock?
Yes. This is part of the reason for the slash instead of the hyphen. Many bands in the genre Post-Rock would also be in the genre Post/Rock. However, some bands that are currently categorized as Indie Rock, Art Rock, Noise Rock, etc. can now be called Post/Rock.
Anyone who thinks/believes that they meet these criteria can join us in saying:
“We are Post/Musicians. The genre of music that we play is Post/Rock.”
